Kinesiology taping
kinesiology tape · KT tape · sports taping · elastic therapeutic tape
An elastic tape is stuck on the skin. It supports muscles and joints without limiting movement.
For muscle and joint pain, after injuries, for swelling, in sports, and alongside exercise therapy.
⏱ Duration: applying it usually takes 10 to 20 minutes; the tape is usually worn for 3 to 5 days

Be sure to tell your doctor
How to prepare
- Skin. Skin should be clean and dry. Do not put on cream that day.
- Hair. Thick hair in the area may need to be shaved. Ask in advance.
- Clothes. Loose clothes, so the area can be uncovered.
What to bring
- Your referral or doctor's report, if you have one
- Comfortable clothes
How it goes
- The specialist examines you and checks your movement
- The skin is wiped clean
- The tape is measured and cut to shape
- It is applied with the right tension, sometimes with the muscle stretched
- The tape is rubbed with the palm so the adhesive sets
What you'll feel
- It does not hurt
- A light pulling feeling on the skin
Afterwards
- You can shower. Pat the tape dry with a towel afterward
- Do not dry it with a hair dryer. The adhesive can overheat
- Remove it slowly, in the direction of hair growth, holding the skin
- If the edges peel, you can trim them carefully
Contact a doctor straight away if
- Strong itching, burning, or redness under the tape: take it off
Common questions
