Checkup for headache and migraine
migraine visit · headache specialist · neurologist for headaches · head checkup · headache diary
The doctor asks you in detail about your headaches and examines you. Most often the cause is understood from what you tell them and from the exam, without complex tests.
For frequent or severe headaches, migraine, or when the pain has changed or pills have stopped helping.
⏱ Duration: the visit usually takes 30 to 45 minutes

Be sure to tell your doctor
How to prepare
- Diary. For 2 to 4 weeks before the visit, write down each attack: the date, how strong it was, what you took and whether it helped.
- Medicines. Do not change your treatment on your own. Write down all the medicines you take.
- Tests. Bring earlier scans and reports, if you have them.

Not always. The doctor orders an MRI if there are warning signs.
Can I take a painkiller every day?
No. Taking it often can itself cause headaches. Talk about this with your doctor.
