Food intolerance test
food intolerance test · IgG food test · food sensitivity test · food panel
This is a blood test from a vein. The lab checks how your immune system reacts to different foods.
Usually at the patient's own request, for bloating, tiredness, or skin problems. Doctors are cautious about this test.
⏱ Duration: the blood draw takes 3 to 5 minutes; results usually come in 3 to 10 days

Be sure to tell your doctor
How to prepare
- Food. Usually fasting, or a few hours after a meal. Check with the lab.
- Diet. Do not cut foods out before the test. Otherwise the result will not be accurate.

Common questions
How is this different from an allergy test?
An allergy test looks for other antibodies linked to real reactions. This test often just shows what you eat often.
Can I go on a diet based on the result?
Not on your own. You could miss out on foods you need. Better to discuss a diet with your doctor.
