Common questions
If the test is negative, does that mean no strep throat?
Not always. Sore throats are often caused by viruses. If there is still doubt, the doctor may order a throat culture.
Why test if strep throat is obvious?
It is hard to tell strep from a virus just by looking. The test helps you avoid antibiotics you do not need.
