A removable denture needs cleaning every day, like your teeth. Here is how to care for it at home.
For everyone who wears removable dentures, full or partial.
⏱ Duration: usually 5 minutes in the morning and evening

Be sure to tell your doctor
How to prepare
- Brush. A separate denture brush or a soft toothbrush.
- Cleaner. Soap or a special denture paste. Regular toothpaste can scratch.
- Place. Clean it over a sink with water or a towel, so it will not break if you drop it.
What to bring
- Your denture brush
- A storage case
- Your cleaning product
How it goes
- Take out the denture and rinse it with water
- Brush the denture on all sides
- Brush your own teeth, gums, and tongue with a soft brush
- Rinse the denture again
- Put the denture back in, or place it in a case with water
What you'll feel
- You get used to the care quickly
- Your gums rest while the denture is out
Afterwards
- Rinse the denture after every meal
- Do not put it in hot water, since it can warp
- Do not keep it dry without a case
- See your dentist usually once a year, since the denture may need adjusting
Contact a doctor straight away if
- A sore on the gum does not heal for more than 1 to 2 weeks
- The denture cracked or broke: do not glue it yourself
Common questions
Can I clean the denture with toothpaste?
Soap or a special product is better, since regular toothpaste can scratch it.
Why does the denture hold less well now?
Over time the gum and bone change. The dentist can reline the denture.
